Remarks:

Special Notes for Half Marathon Wheelchair Event

(Please note this race does not belong to any award-winning categories)

 

Half Marathon Wheelchair Event – Requirements and Regulations for Wheelchairs
(The following rules have been adapted from the rules administered by the International Paralympic Committee. If there is any discrepancy between the Chinese and English versions, the English version shall prevail.)

  1. The wheelchair shall have two large wheels and one small wheel. Throughout the race, the small wheel(s) must be located in front of the chair.

  2. No part of the body of the chair may extend forwards beyond the hub of the front wheel and be wider than the inside of the hubs of the two rear wheels. The maximum height from the ground of the main body of the chair shall be 50 cm.
  3. No part of the wheelchair may protrude behind the vertical plane of the back edge of the rear tyres.
  4. The maximum diameter of the large wheels including the inflated tire shall not exceed 70 cm. The maximum diameter of the small wheels including the inflated tire shall not exceed 50 cm.
  5. Only one plain, round, push-rim is allowed for each large wheel. This rule may be waived for persons requiring a single arm drive chair.
  6. No mechanical gears or levers shall be allowed, that may propel the chair.
  7. Only hand-operated, mechanical steering devices will be allowed.
  8. Participants should be able to turn the front wheel(s) manually both to the left and the right.
  9. The use of mirrors is not permitted during the race.
  10. All wheelchair participants must wear a helmet.

 

Wheelchairs will be measured and inspected prior to the start of the race at the assembly area and wheelchair participants will be escorted to the starting point by the race officials. The officials shall reserve the right to re-examine the wheelchairs before or after the event.
Participants must ensure that no part of their lower limbs will touch the ground or the race track during the event. Participants are responsible for ensuring their wheelchairs conform to the requirements stipulated above. The event will not be delayed due to on-site wheelchair adjustments.
Participants must take into account the safety of other participants on the route.
The appointed Technical Officials shall rule on the safety of the wheelchair and the participants using it.


Terms & Conditions 

  1. The race bib (attached with the timing chip) should be placed in front of the helmet. Every participant shall be provided with an additional race bib to be put visibly on the back of his or her wheelchair. Otherwise, the finished time cannot be recorded.
  2. By submitting his or her entry, each applicant agrees to obey and accept all the terms and conditions of participation as contained herein.

 

In case of discrepancies between the Chinese and English versions, the English version shall prevail.
